Lifting Up Haiti is a non-profit 501c3 organization located in Bellingham, WA. Our real heart lies in Haiti and with the Haitian people. We were formed in September 2010 and are comprised of a small board of committed caring, passionate people who have all had transforming experiences in Haiti.
Our initial project was a small children's home in St Marc, Haiti, 50 miles north of Port au Prince. During a 5 year period, Lifting Up Haiti provided support to the home's director, Jean Buteau and his wife Gertrude. They provided a small family centered home for many children who were abandoned by parents or were orphans. Lifting Up Haiti supporters were able provide financial, medical and emotional support as Buteau became self-sufficient.
We are currently partnering with an organization doing medical work in south-west Haiti run by a Haitian non-profit called Mission of Grace. Work includes a free to very low-cost medical clinic for the surrounding area of Plaisance du Sud. There is also a birthing center there to help reduce infant and maternal mortality.
We also support Hope Rising in Leogone with their health and medical clinics.
Dr Troutman has a passion for research on the Moringa tree, which grows prolifically in Haiti and hopes to complete a research project showing the medical benefits of the powder in Maternal and infant health.
